Rising Sun Graphics is the culmination of over a decade of experience in graphic arts and a lifetime of experience in art itself. Starting out in an advertising agency in Los Angeles, I found myself working on everything from local companies to international projects for Reebok.
Quickly transcending into the over the top graphics with Photoshop and Illustrator, I accepted an invitation to run the art department at a screen-print shop that ranked in Impressions Magazine’s top 50 printers by volume.
I cut my teeth here with licenses ranging from Britney and Janet to Reba and beyond. The constant deadlines and marketing efforts we managed helped us grow exponentially, expanding the printing capabilities of the shop itself 3-fold while I was in charge of bringing the art department up to speed in order to handle the workload.
After a little over 3 years there, I accepted another invitation to join the country’s top licensor of rock and roll apparel. At this position, I gained a number of top-selling spots design-wise and managed everything that came off my desk at 10 regional screen-print shops.
Our team of artists, myself holding the first position below our Creative Director, was responsible for the creative aspect along with the proper printing of everything we designed. It was here I furthered my experience with cut-and-sew garments and the “Majors” in the retail world along with the ins and outs of the licensing aspect of the business.
My time there, though cherished, came to an end when I made the decision to move to Phoenix, Arizona where I took a Creative Director position at a Union shop. Expanding my network and graphics capabilities, I also began to further my knowledge in motion graphics while continuing to build websites and design entire clothing lines for my clientele.
Rising Sun Graphics has become the moniker under which I operate. My designs have sold millions worldwide in the retail apparel market, helping advance some of the world’s biggest entertainment act’s merchandising efforts. Though heavily based in the apparel field, I’m consistently approached to create corporate logos, websites and everything in-between as well.
Up until this point (2009), I have yet to market myself, working solely with those recommended to me via someone I’ve worked with in the past. Rising Sun Graphics and this site is my “giving in”, if you will, to the fickle demands of the graphics world but I figured while I was doing it, I was going to make it interesting. Check out my reel, download my portfolio, read my articles, buy some stock graphics – it’s all here to be taken advantage of.
